Wow. What a Week!
Blowing Rock
We spent the weekend in Blowing Rock for the Blowing Rock Winterfest and had a blast! It was not too cold (yea!) except for the night we arrived I felt like I was being slapped by the wind! We attended the Polar Plunge, Ice Sculpting, Chili Cook-Off and more! Plus we stayed at a really cool hotel called Cliff Dwellers.
Schools this Week
So this week the kids in the elementary school had to stay inside for recess with the blinds closed. Why? Because someone is driving up and down the main road in our neighborhood shooting people with a bb gun. No, I am not joking. Insanity! Do you think the school informed us? No, we found out by word of mouth. Shame on them.
At the middle school two kids got suspended for fighting and a teacher was accused of assaulting a student. Seriously? What is wrong with people. While neither school is bad, I am fed up with this…and I am hoping to move my kids out of those schools soon.

You have to love spam blocking. I got this comment on a blog post and had to laugh after reading it:
“Really excellent blog post. I simply found your current webpage along with wished for you to express that will I have extremely appreciated examining your current web log along with threads. Huh???
Back to Soccer
After taking an hiatus from soccer for two months, last night was my first night back..and we had to play “THAT” team. The one team that has a sour apple in it..that pushes, shoves, elbows, fights. Look, I have a life outside of soccer, I am sorry you don’t lady, but please don’t attack our players because all it does is make you look immature and stupid.
Sounds like an interesting week!
Schools are a mess. My mom was just telling me about a bus driver that maced a kid on the bus. Ugh!

No – they didn’t tell and and yes it is disgusting. I am looking at all my options now…
Ah, I guess I’m a wee bit early to catch your 4M post. Well…on the off chance you don’t know – you’re in the spotlight this week. Congratulations! =D
Naturally, public schools aren’t going to warn parents of danger their children “might” be in. This wouldn’t look good. I hope the drive BB shooter is caught and the school is put on notice for their attempted cover up of this incident. This is crazy!
You have to ask yourself, don’t these people who have computers set to spam blogs think the bloggers DON’T read their comments? To date, I haven’t gotten any spam, which sounds neat as yours. Mine have obviously been a terrible randomness of words which often make no sense whatsoever.
I’d love to be in the market for a new home. I hope this will change come summer, as we approach the pay off of this mortage. We out grew our home eons ago and now our family is branching out with both daughters now married and our youngest one graduating high school this spring. Before we know it, there will be grandkids running around. 🙂
Oh, spammers crack me up.
How unfortunate that someone thinks it is funny? I am going with funny, to shoot a BB gun at little kids. TWISTED. We were lucky that our public school sent notes home CONSTANTLY, we kind of joked that they sent home notes about HANG NAILS but I guess I shouldn’t have complained because we were informed of everything and anything, so I guess it does matter about a good public school and I shouldn’t have complained. I think it is unfair to lump all public schools as bad, hopefully the school realizes their error and will work better to communicate with parents. We were blessed with our public school system. We felt our children were safe and they obviously were taught well both got into excellent colleges and one has gone onto a top notch Law School, so you can succeed in the public school system.Good Luck!

If I sounded like I meant all public schools were bad, that was definitely not my intention. There are actually some really great public schools in the neighboring counties and what we call “Magnet” schools here. I went to a great public school when I was a kid and do know there are other options besides high priced public schools and home schooling (which I definitely don’t have the patience for!).
