Yummy Chocolate Jack O Lantern Tarts.

I made this recipe back in 2012. And yes, I still have the pics. LOL. But, I know I did not think of this recipe myself, I am just not sure who it originally came from. Good Housekeeping? Family Circle? I just don’t know.

Chocolate Jack ‘O Lantern Tarts

Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup sifted unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbs. orange juice concentrate, thawed
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix (4 oz)
  • 4 oz. frozen non-dairy whipped topping
  • 2 packages single serve graham cracker pie crust
  • Orange sprinkles, 6 green gumdrops halved
  • Wax paper

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, and orange juice. Beat in pudding mix. Chill 10 minutes.
  2. Fold in whipped topping. Spoon mixture into crusts. Chill for at least 1 hour.
  3. Cut out 36 tiny waxed paper triangles for eyes and noses. Cut out 12 mouths. Lightly spray each with nonstick cooking spray. Arrange cut out on tarts.
  4. Shake orange sprinkles over tarts to cover wax tops. Carefully remove wax paper. Place halved gumdrop on top. Refrigerate leftovers.

Not Your Average Caramel Apple Recipe
Ingredients
  • 16 small apples
  • 16 wooden sticks
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • ¼ cup sifted unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • ½ cup butter (1 stick)
  • 2 cups rice crisp cereal
Instructions
  1. Wash and dry apples. Remove stems and insert sticks. Set aside.
  2. Line baking sheets with foil, grease foil. Set aside.
  3. In a heavy 3 qt saucepan combine brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and cocoa powder. Stir in corn syrup and butter. Boil gently over medium heat for 25 minutes stirring frequently.
  4. Work fast! Dip each apple into the hot caramel, covering apple. Allow excess to drip off. Dip bottom of apple into cereal. Place on greased foil. Let stand at least 25 minutes or until cool.
