Not Your Average Caramel Apple Recipe
 
Ingredients
  • 16 small apples
  • 16 wooden sticks
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • ¼ cup sifted unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • ½ cup butter (1 stick)
  • 2 cups rice crisp cereal
Instructions
  1. Wash and dry apples. Remove stems and insert sticks. Set aside.
  2. Line baking sheets with foil, grease foil. Set aside.
  3. In a heavy 3 qt saucepan combine brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and cocoa powder. Stir in corn syrup and butter. Boil gently over medium heat for 25 minutes stirring frequently.
  4. Work fast! Dip each apple into the hot caramel, covering apple. Allow excess to drip off. Dip bottom of apple into cereal. Place on greased foil. Let stand at least 25 minutes or until cool.
