Carolina Pad Partners with the Humane Society – Plus Giveaway

Carolina Pad Partners with the Humane Society – Plus Giveaway

If you have been reading my blog for any amount of time, you know I am a dog lover. I am also an advocate for pet adoption. Thousands of animals are put in shelters every year and thousands are put down every year. Wouldn’t it be nice to know you saved an animal from that fate?

And I can tell you, from experience, shelter dogs, or strays, or abandoned pets simply know that you have saved them. They just do. All three of my dogs have been “adopted” in some sort of fashion, but I will tell you about them later.

I am a fan a companies who support good cause, and Carolina Pad just happens to be one of those companies.  But they support multiple causes! (For instance, for every Kendall Collection item sold a donation is made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Association.)  They are able to support worthy causes through  Carolina Pad’s Commerce with a Conscience initiative.

And now, Carolina Pad has partnered with The Humane Society and have created a line of notebooks just for them that hit www.carolinapadstore.com (their online store) June 1st!

The new collection, Stand Up! features Studio C Notebooks, 2 Pocket folders, Personal Books, and Vinyl Binders. It als promotes Mission: Humane, a nationwide movement of young people working to help animals where they need it most. Which is quite interesting because when my kids saw the new collection they started discussing who was going to get what. HELLO? Does your Mom (me!) not get anything?!

The Stand Up! collection really appeals to kids (obviously in my kids case), but I also really like them a lot. With messages like “Love,” “Respect,” and “Speak Out” they are sending a message without having to speak. Plus, with the Humane Society logo on each of the items, when you purchase these items, you are also showing your support for the Humane Society.

And I think they hit the target on the nose for this one. Mission: Humane  provides resources to students who want to make a difference for animals by taking action. Students can participate in community service projects that tackle such issues as puppy mills, animal abuse and cruelty, farm animal protection, living peacefully with wildlife, and the fur trade. Over 2,000 projects have been completed to date.

Now, about my doggies!

Chloe

Golden Retriever

Her owner dumped her back on the breeder at 2 years old. The breeder gave her to us. She had no other home. Chloe is my lap dog. Yes, my 116lb lap dog. She has never met a person or another dog she has not liked.  Chloe is a happy girl everyday and you can see the joy in her eyes when we walk in the door!

Rosie

Aussie Shepherd Mix

She was adopted from a shelter as a pup and clearly has become the protector of the family. True to her Aussie background, when the kids were young, she tried to “herd” them, but quickly learned that was a “no no”. Rosie knows my schedule. She seems to know what I am going to do before I even do it! She will walk into a room before me. When she hears the computer turn off at night, she knows it is bedtime and will walk in my room before me.

Chloe and Rosie were together for 4 years together. Best friends ever. Then, without knowing this was going to happen, Maggie came into our lives.

Maggie

Some Sort of Spaniel Mix

Last summer we were vacationing in Maggie Valley, NC. The day we were leaving, we made a great breakfast – bacon, eggs, you name it we made it. After the bacon had been cooking a while, we looked out the cabin door and there was this scruffy little puppy. Just sitting there. When I walked outside she did not beg for food, but rather just sat next to me.

I thought, “Here we go.” Reece and Betsy started loving on her, but we were quick to realize she was full, and I mean FULL, of fleas and ticks…YUCK! We were standing around wondering where we came from when the owner of the cabin walked up. She told us this puppy had been roaming the mountain roads for about 4 months. She did not have an owner. The cabin owner also told us that she could not take her, as she had already “adopted” 6 other mountain road running dogs.

Well, that was it for us. It was then and there we decided to bring her home with us. But not with all those fleas and ticks on her! So we promptly gave her a full blown tick bath and she came home with us.

Maggie (named after Maggie Valley) was the calmest puppy ever in a car. And when we did get home, she easily made friends with Chloe, but Rosie was a little more standoffish, but now are terrific friends. Maggie also knows it was my kids who begged and pleaded with us to bring her home. She KNOWS. Chloe and Rosie follow me every where I go. EVERYWHERE. Maggie on the other hand, will sleep in Reece or Betsy’s room if they are not home. When she sees them leave, she whines. She takes turns sleeping in their rooms.

Maggie KNOWS who had the final say in that and she shows her appreciation every day.

Do you know an animal as special as mine? Then tell me about it!
