Home Office Makeover Event
Day 2

My “filing system” (if you can call it that) looks as if it was put together by my three dogs. I have file folders laying flat, papers just shoved in random notebooks, nothing is labeled properly. I am shocked that I could ever find anything. That was until Avery Products came to my rescue! Avery is more than just “mailing labels”. Avery Products offer labels for just about any project you can think of, as well as Design & Print Business Cards, Postcards, Notecards, Binders, Pens, Tags, Scrapbooking supplies, and more!
But let’s get back to the business of an Office Makeover! I had to do some serious cleanup before I could even start my organization! I know that when my papers and office are cluttered, I feel completely unmotivated to do anything. So, I whipped out the Avery Products I received and began organizing!
Mailing Labels
I decided to tackle something easy first! My daughter Betsy is a fanatic about what is in her drawers, so instead of organizing my office, I decided to use the Avery White Removable Multipurpose Labels (6464) to create labels for her drawers!
- The first thing you will realize when using Avery Labels is that they offer Free Templates and Software in order to properly format their labels!
- You just visit www.Avery.com where you can easily find the template needed for each of their labels!
- Once you find the template you need (the template required is printed right on the label packaging), either select from a predefined graphic, color, or blank and start typing!
- When you are through, hit the “print” button, and voila! Your Avery Labels are printed!

Next, I tried the Avery White Mailing Labels 1″ x 25/8 (18160). I thought these would be a perfect fit to label my file folders! Following the same instructions as above, I easily printed my file folder labels!

Tab Dividers
Have you seen these yet? This is the first time I have seen these and I LOVE them! I tried the Avery Index Maker Clear Label Dividers (11436) Easy Apply Label Strip, 5-Tab, 5 Sets, White.
What is so cool about them:
- Easy-to-read tabs with clear labels that virtually disappear when applied
- Durable tabs resist tearing and stand up to frequent use
- Save time by labeling all tabs at once using the patented Easy Apply label strip
- Quickly create labels for multiple sets by using free Auto-Fill template

The best tip I know of is have a plan and MAKE YOURSELF stick to it. For instance, I have to force myself to make sure to leave enough time at the end of the day to put everything away, even when it seems more efficient time-wise to just work as long as possible and wrap it up in the morning. The other day is a perfect example. After dividing up a bunch of papers to be filed, and leaving them in stacks that would be filed in the morning, my daughter’s cat discovered how much fun it is to play with the papers. I now have papers all over the floor, and have to start all over again, lol.

Clean up as I go along rather than wait until the end of the day/week/month…..
store things where you use them. Keeping things where you use them will help you conquer clutter in your home. When you store things where you use them, it is easier to use the item and put it away when you’re finished. This last step, putting the item away, is a critical step in controlling clutter

Mine is labeling all 4 sides of the boxes so no matter which way it goes on the shelf it can be clearly seen.
Thanks for the chance.

I label everything and put it in it’s place as soon as possible, if not things tend to get lost.
When the mail comes..I immediately sort through it and put it in the correct spots

when storing things in non-seethrough boxes tape a list of the contents to the top of the box so you don’t have to wonder where something is!

My best organizing tip? Having everything displayed in front of me in an orderly fashion. I have some memory problems, so organization is key to success!
It’s better to do something at all than to do nothing at all. It’s sort of my housecleaning mantra. Even if it’s nothing more than pick up the giant dust bunny, at least you’re doing something!

Use highlighters! They save me everytime. I’m a slave to my dayplanner so occasionally I’ll use stickers too to mark important dates and appointments.
I deal with the mail right away so it doesn’t pile up.

I love to use ziploc bags and shoe box tubs to organize the pantry, store electronics cables, etc. It really saves space and makes things neat and tidy.

My best organizing tip is to first get everything into the room where it belongs and then put it in it’s correct place. I do this a lot with my kid’s stuff.

I really could use this to be more organized. One tip I use is to keep everything in seperate folders with different color labeling so I can tell right away if it’s bills, medical records etc. and I file it as soon as I get it.

murphy’s law…seriously i have had no luck organizing but i keep trying to learn i guess if i had to give advice is if you need to remember your wifes birthday forget it once she’ll make sure you remember every time after that.
My best organizing tip is to put it away RIGHT away! Sometimes I wish it wasn’t true, but alas, it is.
My best organinizing tip would be putting barbed wire around the island and kitchen table so that the gremlins that live in our house would have a much more difficult time of depositing the ever growing piles of junk on them. If that doesn’t work I would consider consulting a witch doctor about some sort of charm that magically puts everything in its place. And, if all else fails we could always try the genie in the lamp, but I’m not holding my breath.
My best organizing tip~Keeping all my bills, taxes, and important papers separated using a small filing cabinet.
grannylovesgiftbaskets@hotmail.com
I use post its for quick reminders and such so that I don’t forget important items
My best organizing tip is to make list for everything. I’m very happy when i complete everything on my list.
I keep my kids school papers in separate files, so I don’t mix them up, and can find them easily.
