School is different this year. Tomorrow, Reece starts the 7th grade. He is a “real” middle schooler now. In California, “middle school” was called “Junior High” and it was only 7th and 8th graders. Here, it starts in 6th grade! They are still babies in 6th grade! His particular school did a good job separating the 6th graders by having all of the 6th grade classes on the 2nd floor while the 7th and 8th graders had classes on the first floor.
But this year, my son, my little boy, will be on the first floor with all the “big” kids. It was at that moment I thought, “OH MY GOSH – He is a big kid now!” I look in his face, and I still see that “baby” who would look at me and say “ball” when he wanted to play catch. I see the little boy with the loose curls and light blonde hair who wanted to lie down next to me and watch t.v. The little boy who would fall asleep in my arms and how I could look at him for hours. The little boy who would run up to me smiling and give me his biggest hug ever.
Now, my “baby” is a little man..a tween on the verge of a teen. I look at him and am glad to say he is turning into such a good person. He still is my sweet baby, now just inhabits a big kids body.
These are memories and moments I will never forget, I will have this moment again that he officially is a “middle schooler,” that I realize he really is growing up. Although I will never forget in my mind, it is nice to know that Tiny Prints provides me with the ability to create a Photo Book to commemorate this year.
