Drama Queen in the Making

I think I have a drama queen in the making.

I also think I have the best kids on the planet! They are polite, have manners, work hard, play hard, and I have never heard any complaints about them. 99.9% of the time when they are out in public, they behave like the great kids they are. But they are kids. And they fight with each other.

My kids are best friends – They love each other a lot, but unfortunately I cannot stop some of the fights that occur between the two of them. The other day Reece and Betsy were arguing over a chair of all things.

Out of anger, Betsy yelled, “Shut up Reece You Old Bag!”.

I was so shocked by what I heard and I was confused. I mean, where in the world did she learn that? She is only 8 and I have never said that to anyone, nor used those words talking to anyone either.

Here is this little girl, polite, nice, and then to hear that being said to her brother who is twice as big as her, I wasn’t sure whether to scream or laugh. So, seeing as neither of those were good options, I told her to go to her room.

As she walked up the stairs, she yelled, “See! You do hate me!”. OH MY! What in world? I have never said I hated her or anyone – so where the heck did she get that?I just ignored it thinking it was best to diffuse the situation. A few minutes later I see this piece of paper wafting down the stairs.

Childs Letter

In case you can’t read it, this is what it says:

You Hate Me

Bring Me Food 3 times a day

Give me a bucket of clean water a day

Slide Clothes under my door when ready

Apparently, this is what happens when you punish a child. Or at least one that is a Drama Queen in the making!

Betsy, Betsy, Betsy – What am I going to do with you? Ha Ha
