Blowing Rock is a small town, but it sure isn’t short on places to eat. While we were visiting, our hotel took care of breakfast for us, so we really only had to eat out for lunch and dinner..and we combined the two usually because we were so busy.
One of the best pieces of information we got was from the Blowing Rock Visitors Center. They handed us a small pamphlet that listed all the restaurants, with the type of food they served as well as their pricing structure. The more “$” signs you see, the more expensive the restaurant is.
We visited three restaurants while we were there:
Foggy Rock Eatery & Pub – Dinner Highlights
Definitely my favorite of the three we visited. It was crowded, but what do you expect? We had to wait for a table, although not very long.
We had a great waitress that put up with my Mel asking question about how large his serving size was going to be. Although built like a brick wall with no fat on him, that man can put away some food I tell you!
I really wanted to try the Frito Chicken, but stuck with The Rock Burger. It was delicious!
Reece order the “Trout Trout Trout” – Trout three ways and ate almost all of it!
Definitely receives a thumbs up from me – Great atmosphere, great service, great food!
SledgeHammer Charlies- Lunch
We had a late lunch here on our second day. It seemed as if we waited a long time for everything, but it was definitely worth it.
Look at the size of Mels burrito. And yes, he did eat every single bite of it!
Another thumbs up from me!
Canyons – Late Dinner
After spending all day at Grandfather Mountain, then swimming in the hotel pool, every one was too beat to get dressed and go to dinner so we decided to try to find a place where we could order our food on the phone and pick it up!
Canyons was that place! We ordered some small dinner and appetizer items, because we really weren’t that hungry. It was only a 20 minute wait after we ordered it and it was ready to go when Mel got there to pick it up.
I would have liked to have personally sat in this restaurant, but it was just too late for the kids (9 pm). However, we enjoyed our food and will definitely plan an “in house” visit next time we are in Blowing Rock!
Thumbs up!
The next time you visit Blowing Rock, I highly suggest you stop by The Blowing Rock Visitors Center and pick up the Restaurant pamphlet. It was definitely a big help to us when trying to find restaurants to eat at.
