Loud Motorcycles, Fast Cars…and a Dentist? HomeTown Heroes at Concord Motor Speedpark!

That is what I love about North Carolina. You can be sitting in a dentist chair, the dentist is filling a cavity, and what do you know? He says to his assistant “I can’t take any more appointments after 4:00 tomorrow. I need to get out on the track and practice for the race Saturday night.”

That dentist raced Saturday night.

Yes…RACED.

In a REAL race car on a REAL racetrack!

Saturday night was HomeTown Heroes night at Concord Speedway and Jerry Miracle, a local Monroe dentist and HTH supporter, was out racing for HomeTown Heroes. How cool is that?! (I don’t know if that particular conversation happened him and his assistant…but it could have happened – he is a race car driver after all!!)

As with all of their events, HomeTown Heroes arrived in style.

The night was filled with fast cars, loud motorcycles, and topped off with fireworks. For every ticket sold, a portion of the proceeds went to help HomeTown Heroes. And finally, I got to see Donnie Dixon, the founder of HomeTown Heroes, talk about the wonderful work HomeTown Heroes does!

Once again, I was proud to take my family and support another HomeTown Heroes event. We had a blast and even took one of Reece’s friend who had never seen any kind of race before. My kids are well versed in racing. They know, their Mom (me!) secretly wishes she was driving one of those cars.

The smell. The power. The rush of adrenaline. Oh well.…it will be a dream I live vicariously through other drivers…like Brian Love who started LAST in the Coco Cola Pure Stocks race and ended up WINNING the race. It was AWESOME! That guy can drive!

Ahhhh….I got caught up in my dream….let me get back on track.

HomeTown Heroes night at Concord Speedway was filled with not just racing, but also events for kids. Like the Kids Candy Scramble! They spread tons of candy all of the front of the track and and the kids went out and grabbed as much as they could. It was like a pinata, minus the pinata!

They also had the Kids Peddle Race and a huge fireworks show at the end of the races. This was definitely an event to remember and you can bet, I will be back out at Concord Speedway it was so much fun.

But more importantly, I will continue to support HomeTown Heroes in everything they do. They make a difference in people’s lives. In the lives of children. Children that have been affected by that stupid disease cancer.

They look cancer in the eyes and say, “We will show these families love. We will bring smiles to these kids faces. We will do our best to knock you down. We will fight the good fight. And along the way we will meet new and exciting people who will also stand up for you. So watch out Cancer. We plan on taking you down by putting smiles on kids faces. SO EAT OUR DUST!
