SmartBones For Dogs – Review & Giveaway

One day, the SmartBones package arrived. Betsy eagerly wanted to open the package so she did. She checked out the SmartBones and then put them back in the package on my desk, safe from the dogs. Or so we thought.

SmartBones are rawhide-free dog chews that are fortified with vitamins and minerals and are 99.2% digestible (much easier on a dog’s digestive system than rawhide treats. They come in three different flavors – chicken, peanut butter and dental – and are available in four different sizes (based on the dog’s weight).

On their website, SmartBones says that they are preferred by 9 out of 10 dogs over leading rawhide chews. Hmmm…but what about my dogs? Would they prefer it? Well, Maggie, the little dog, she is quite particular about her chew objects and actually refuses rawhide. Would she like them?

Let’s take you back to where we were in the beginning….Betsy left the package of SmartBones on my desk, safe from the dogs. In that package were three bones; two large for my big dogs and one small for Maggie. We left for the afternoon and when we came home, Betsy, Reece, and I plopped down on the couches. Maggie came downstairs with something in her mouth. The small SmartBone! I quickly grabbed it from her because I wanted all three dogs to get theirs at the same time. Then I thought, “How did she get that?! It was on my desk still wrapped and in the package!?” Maggie then ran to the back door so I let her and the other two dogs out. I watched her for a while…and then she appeared..way in the back corner with something white in her mouth. “Oh no…she caught something!” I was thinking. So I sent Reece out to investigate.

Do you know what he came back with? HALF OF A LARGE SMART BONE! Reece grabbed that bone from her and I quickly went upstairs to see what happened. Maggie had unwrapped the package, eaten (I think) ONE LARGE SmartBone, hidden ONE LARGE SmartBone outside, and then, tried to eat the third small SmartBone.

For a dog that doesn’t like rawhide, she sure did try to keep all three SmartBones for herself! I would say in our home, SmartBones are definitely a keeper!

Not only are SmartBones super yummy to dogs, I also like them because they are fortified with vitamins and minerals, they don’t contain rawhide, and they are made with real chicken!
